The festival of lights was celebrated at DAV nursery school with great zeal and vigour. The students as well as the staff participated with a lot of enthusiasm to make the celebration a success. The celebration started of with a havan. A skit performed by the students followed the havan, the students gave a wonderful message as to why we shouldn't burn crackers , they showed that child labour is involved in production of crackers and how those innocent children are exposed to toxic environment while making crackers . They also showed how air and noise pollution levels also rise during Diwali and this can be harmful to all of us. A solution to all these problems was also proposed by the students in the skit, Diwali should not become a festival of noise but should remain a festival of lights, It should be celebrated by decorating one's house , making rangoli , meeting your dear ones and lighting lamps. The principal Mrs. Devika Dutt also addressed the students after the skit and very beautifully explained as to why buying crackers is harmful and also a waste of money. She advised the students to spend their money on doing good deeds than spending on crackers . She told the students that they can visit an orphanage or an old age home and share their time and sweets with the people living there, they can donate the money they want to spend on crackers to make somebody Else's Diwali merrier. Understanding Mrs. Dutt's advice the children took a 'say no to crackers ' pledge and promised to celebrate a safe and Eco-friendly Diwali.
