The students of class IX of DAV Public School, Khera Khurd, Delhi visited Yamuna Biodiversity Park (YBP) on 25.02.2014. The aim of this educational tour was to make the young learners aware about various forms of life and living resources i.e. plants, animals and microbes along with their habitats which form the basis of human survival on the earth by functioning as an integral component of the biodiversity. In the present scenario, the unscientific and unsustainable use of these resources has been posing as an environmental threat. This Yamuna Biodiversity Park (YBP) has been serving as a repository and also monitoring short term and long term changes in ecology of Delhi region through research.
The students were enthralled to see variety of butterflies, birds like yellow footed green pigeon, trees and plethora of migratory birds viz. red crested , pochards, cormorants, Euraion wigeon etc. the above said tour was very well guided by Dr. A.K. Singh and Dr. Faisal. They also answered the queries of students. The group came back motivated and pledged to make efforts towards conservation of Biodiversity.
